Volvo svela la gamma media - Volvo introduced medium truck ranges

Volvo Trucks ha presentato la nuova generazione delle gamme medie FE e FL, che ora montano motori Euro 6 – tra cui un inedito quattro cilindri - e possono essere equipaggiate con cambio automatizzato I-Shift. Cambia anche la linea esterna della cabina, che richiama la serie più pesante FH.

Il passaggio allo standard Euro 6 ha spinto Volvo Trucks a rinnovare la gamma dei motori delle sue serie medie FE e FL, che ora utilizzano l'inedito propulsore D5 a 4 cilindri da 5,1 litri – che eroga potenza di 240 CV con coppia massima di 900 Nm – ed il D8 a sei cilindri da 7,7 litri, offerto in tre tarature di potenza: 320 CV (con coppia di 1200 Nm), 280 CV (con coppia di 1050 Nm) e 250 CV (con coppia di 950 Nm). Per rispettare i limiti di emissioni imposti dalla norma Euro 6, questi motori utilizzano una combinazione tra riduzione catalitica SCR, rigenerazione EGR e filtro per il particolato. Inoltre, il turbocompressore ha turbine a geometria variabile.
Un'interessante innovazione su questa categoria di peso è la possibilità di montare, a richiesta, il cambio automatizzato I-Shft, che da tempo è disponibile sulle gamme pesanti, anche sulla serie FE. Questo cambio può essere personalizzato con una programmazione specifica dedicata alla distribuzione urbana. Entrambe le gamme montano di serie il sistema Electronic Stability Program, che consente ai conducenti di mantenere la stabilità del veicolo in caso di sterzata brusca o imprevista.
La serie FL dispone ora di unaversione con massa complessiva di 12 tonnellate, equipaggiata con il motore D5 tarato a 240 CV accoppiato al cambio automatizzato I-Shift. Un motore a quattro cilindri su un veicolo di tale peso offre una minore tara di 500 chilogrammi, a vantaggio della portata utile, rispetto ad un tradizionale sei cilindri. Questa versione ha anche ruote con diametro minore, che abbassano la cabina di cinque centimetri con due vantaggi: migliore visibilità e minore fatica nella salita e discesa del conducente.
I due modelli condividono il disegno della cabina, che ricorda quello della serie pesante presentata recentemente. I fari sono integrati nel nuovo paraurti, costituito da un'unità in tre parti con sezioni angolari realizzate in acciaio per garantire massima durata e costi di riparazione ridotti in caso di urti o graffi di lieve entità. Volvo Trucks ha presentato anche una nuova gamma di servizi, che sarà disponibile con i nuovi modelli FE e FL. Il livello più elevato è il contratto Gold, che comprende anche il controllo da remoto del veicolo da parte della rete di assistenza.

Volvo Trucks introduced the next generation of medium ranges FE and FL, with Euro 6 engines - including an unprecedented four-cylinder - and can be equipped with I-Shift automated gearbox. It also changes the outer line of the cabin, which recalls the heavier series FH.

The transition to the Euro 6 standard has driven Volvo Trucks to renew the range of engines for its medium-range FE and FL, which is now using the brand new D5 engine 4-cylinder 5.1 liters - which delivers power of 240 hp with maximum torque of 900 Nm - and D8 six-cylinder 7.7-liter, offered in three calibrations power: 320 hp (torque of 1200 Nm), 280 hp (torque of 1050 Nm) and 250 hp (with a torque of 950 Nm). To comply with the emission limits imposed by the Euro 6 standard, these engines use a combination of catalytic reduction SCR, EGR and regeneration particulate filter. Furthermore, the turbocharger has variable turbine geometry.

An interesting innovation of this weight category is the ability to be mounted upon request, the automated manual I-Shft, which has long been available on the ranges heavy, even on the FE series. This change can be customized with a specific program dedicated to urban distribution. Both ranges fitted as standard with the Electronic Stability Program, which allows drivers to maintain the stability of the vehicle in case of sudden steering or unexpected.

The FL series now has a version with a total weight of 12 tons, equipped with the D5 engine rated at 240 hp coupled to the I-Shift automated gearbox. A four-cylinder engine of a vehicle that offers a lower tare weight of 500 kilograms, to the advantage of the payload, compared to a traditional six cylinders. This version also has wheels with smaller diameter, which lower the cabin of five centimeters with two advantages: better visibility and less fatigue in the ascent and descent of the driver.

The two models share the design of the cabin, reminiscent of the heavy series presented recently. The headlights are integrated into the new bumper, consisting of a three-part with corner sections made of steel to ensure maximum durability and reduced repair costs in the event of shocks or minor scratches. Volvo Trucks has introduced a new range of services, which will be available with the new models FE and FL. The highest level is the contract Gold, which also includes the remote control of the vehicle by the service network.
